KPD investigating deadly shooting at McCalla Avenue home

UPDATE (December 15, 2025, 12:55 p.m.): The victim from the deadly shooting that happened on December 6 outside of a McCalla Avenue home has been identified as Inmer Arita, 32. Arita lived at the residence where the shooting occurred.

KPD Homicide Unit detectives are continuing to attempt to find 33-year-old Job Alvarado-Lainez, who is a person of interest in the shooting. Alvarado-Lainez has not been charged in connection to the shooting, but a warrant is on file charging him with unlawful weapon possession under state or federal law.

UPDATE (December 8, 2025, 4 p.m.): KPD detectives are attempting to locate 33-year-old Job Alvarado-Lainez.
 
Alvarado-Lainez is a person of interest in the deadly shooting that happened in the early hours of Saturday, December 6 outside of 1943 McCalla Avenue. 
 
Alvarado-Lainez reportedly left the scene of the shooting in a Dodge truck that was later found abandoned on Wimpole Avenue.
 
A warrant is on file charging Alvarado-Lainez with unlawful weapon possession under state or federal law.
 
Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts is asked to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers anonymously at 865-215-7165. Tipsters can be eligible to receive a cash reward.

The Knoxville Police Department is investigating after a man was found dead from a gunshot wound outside of a home in the 1900 block of McCalla Avenue early Saturday morning.

At just after 8 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, KPD officers responded to the aforementioned location, finding a man dead in the backyard of the home.

Based on the findings of the still ongoing investigation being led by the KPD Homicide Unit, it is believed that the victim was shot by another man following a physical altercation. The suspect left the scene prior to officer arrival.

A suspect is not in custody at this time, though detectives are pursuing strong leads.

The investigation is in the early stages at this time.
